We are pleased to welcome Jord AB as a new member of the World Bioenergy Association!
Jord AB, founded in 2017 in Stockholm, Sweden, is dedicated to restoring the global carbon balance through innovation in bioenergy. The company focuses on cultivating C4 grasses on marginal and degraded lands—areas unsuitable for food production and lacking commercial value—in regions such as Senegal and the Dominican Republic.
These rapidly growing grasses are converted into renewable products like solid biofuels and biochar, offering sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels, enhancing soil health, and capturing atmospheric CO₂ to combat climate change. Jord AB’s biofuels are produced without competing with food resources, without links to deforestation, and with a direct contribution to soil regeneration. By harnessing C4 grass biomass, the company provides a scalable, sustainable substitute for fossil fuels—lowering emissions in heat and power generation while promoting long-term land restoration.
A core pillar of Jord AB’s model is the revitalization of degraded land, ensuring a rapid carbon cycle and delivering immediate, measurable reductions in atmospheric CO₂. By integrating sustainable land use with renewable energy solutions, Jord AB is advancing bioenergy innovation while addressing environmental challenges, driving carbon sequestration, and fostering a greener, more resilient future.
