Renewable Energy Transformation: from Tripling to 100%

Summary:
Building on the success of COP28, where the global target to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030 was formally agreed upon, this side event at COP29 will explore the next steps towards achieving 100% renewable energy across all sectors.
The discussions will focus on key strategies needed to maintain momentum, such as scaling up investments, advancing technological solutions, and implementing supportive policies. In addition, the event will emphasize how to mobilize society for this energy transition and ensure that it is inclusive and just, leaving no communities behind. The tripling target achieved at COP28 will serve as a foundation to accelerate further progress towards a fully renewable and sustainable energy future.
