Bioenergy is one of several ways to meet the needs for flexibility when variable energy sources like wind and solar make up an increasing share of the energy supply. Bioenergy for flexibility has several advantages. The energy is stored in the fuel, at low cost, and can be utilized whenever needed. The technical solutions are multiple and well-known and can be applied at different scales.
The IEA Bioenergy Task 44 – flexible bioenergy and system integration – analyzes how bioenergy solutions can be applied to increase flexibility in the entire energy system. The Task 44 looks at technology, policy and incentives, as well as how to better include flexible bioenergy in energy modelling.
In that context, the World Bioenergy Association together with IEA Bioenergy Task 44, is pleased to invite you all to a joint webinar – Bioenergy for Flexibility in Energy Systems. The speakers will present best practice examples of flexible bioenergy from around the world.
