Study Mission Trip - Changchun, China

World Bioenergy Association (WBA) in collaboration with Branch Office China, organized a study trip for international delegates to Changchun, Jilin Province during November 26 – 28, 2018. The study trip included site visits to large biomass CHP and liquid biofuel installations, 1st international bio-based economy forum along with meetings with provincial policy makers to promote bioenergy development in the region. A WBA Board Meeting was also organized for board members on November 26th, 2018.

Site Visits

For delegates who were part of the study trip, 4 site visits were organized:

Site Visit 1: First Auto Work (FAW) supplying bioheat to industrial users

Site Visit 2: Multi Generation Technology (Cogeneration of cooling, heat, power, steam and fertilizer) in Pharmaceutical Industrial Park

Site Visit 3: Jilin Fuel Ethanol Co. Ltd.

Site Visit 4: Supplying Bioheat to Vocational Educational Park

1st Bio Based Economy Forum 2018

WBA Branch Office organized the 1st Bio Based Economy Forum 2018 on November 26 which included presentations from local and international experts on bioenergy. The event was supported by China New Energy Chamber of Commerce along with Great Resources Jilin Co. Ltd.

The forum was also the venue for the launch of China Nordic Bioenergy Investment Kick Off Ceremony to promote technology transfer and investments for bioenergy technologies from Europe to China. At the same time, the Pioneer of Green Energy Award were awarded to projects with high sustainability and efficiency conditions.

Meeting with Provincial Policy Makers and Sightseeing

Delegates were also provided an opportunity to visit a Museum of Ethnic Groups in Changchun. The museum visit was followed by a high-level meeting between Vice Governor of Jilin Province Mr. Zhu Tianshu and WBA President Remigijus Lapinskas. The discussion involved strengthening cooperation between WBA and Jilin Province in promoting bioenergy. Bioenergy – especially agricultural biomass – has great potential in the region to replace fossil fuels in industries and residential sector. Discussions included cooperation in R&D, promoting investments and increasing delegation visits between Sweden and Jilin Province.
