KIREC 2019

KIREC Seoul 2019 will be the first IREC where the national and city governments work to define a joint agenda. Cities are central driving the energy transformation. Local governments have legislative and purchasing power that they can use to implement change in their own operations and in the wider community, becoming beacons for change. Local implementation can support national policies thus ensuring vertical policy integration which essential to the renewable energy transformation.

The IRECs - organized by REN21 - provide a multi-stakeholder platform for government, private sector and civil society leaders to address jointly the goal of advancing the renewable energy transformation.

What is IREC?

The International Renewable Energy Conference (IREC) is a high-level political conference series hosted by a national government every two years. It provides a forum for policy and decision makers to exchange on renewable energy national and regional developments. KIREC is the first IREC to have a dedicated track on cities given the central roles cities play in renewable energy uptake and their importance in implementing national policies. The IREC consists of high-level plenary sessions, interactive parallel sessions and plenty of time to network and learn.
